A man driving a stolen car totaled a parked aircraft and a vintage convertible at Gillespie Field after leading police on a high-speed chase early Tuesday morning. The chase started just after 1 a.m. on Montrose Court near Madison Avenue when two police sergeants patrolling a motel parking lot ran a license plate of a 2000 Volkswagen Passat that was reported stolen, said police Sgt. Walt Miller.
